By Rucha Purohit and Hetakshi Sachdev
Dhruvi Kalpesh bhai Pandya, a young girl age 20 years born on 12 December 2004. Despite being a person with Deaf blindness, she has carved out an inspiring path of success for herself. Her story is one of courage, resilience, and the boundless power of human spirit.
From an early age, it was clear that Dhruvi had an innate passion for movement. She is from Rajasthan and her parents enrolled her during 2015 in Centre for Person with Deafblind, unit of Blind People’s Association (Vastrapur). To adjust her in Karnavati Hostel for the Blind and Disable girls, her mother stayed in the hostel for 15 days to enable her to cope up with the hostilities.
As she was already 18 years old, she was enrolled in the Vocational Training Unit to enhance her production skills. She started making good quality jewellery and paper plates. Apart from the production activities, she also had an inherent passion for dancing. To communicate with her Special Educators more effectively, Dhruvi used to share her experience of visit to different places through the medium of drawing.
As Dhruvi is from Rajasthan where the passion for dancing is taken at a broad level, she indulged the talent of dancing on the song Ghoomar which is a traditional folk dance. This talent took her to Mumbai where she participated in Divya Kala Shakti competition. As she grew older her love for the art form flourished. She became known in society not only for her exceptional talent but for her determination and commitment. With each performance, she showed the world that dancing was not just about sight and sound, but about feeling and expression.
Dhruvi’s story is a powerful reminder that talent knows no boundaries. Through her talent and ability, she has demonstrated that determination, adaptability and a creative spirit can turn any challenge into an opportunity. She has proven that with the right support, unwavering belief in oneself, and a passion for life, there are no limits to what one can achieve. Her success is not just about overcoming her disabilities, its about thriving in a world that often overlooks those who are differently abled. She is an inspiration –a living example that success is not defined by what we lack, but by what we choose to do with what we have.
