This library produces digital audio books and e-books for schools, higher education, professional courses, special education and competitive exams. We also have a collection of more than 3000 accessible books in literature, non-fiction and other books of variety of interests. Currently we have around 1100 members in this library. Some of our books can also be found in Sugamya Pustakalaya.
How do we get books recorded?
In addition to payed readers and volunteers, we have started a very unique project. With the support of Sabarmati Central Jail, we have set up a recording unit in the jail. Prisoners who meet all the standards of reading books are trained in recording and editing books in DAISY. Currently 50 per cent of books are recorded in the jail. It is the first project of its type which benefits both: prisoners as well as persons with visual impairment.
Any VI person who wishes to be a member of this library should submit the photo copy of their medical certificate, a photo copy of their ID proof and a passport size photograph.
